spa tileWhether you’re gearing up for that big holiday party or headed to your daughter’s wedding, looking younger and feeling your radiant best may be at the top of your list.

Maybe your upcoming special occasion is the perfect excuse to dive into that specialty facial, platelet-rich plasma treatment, Botox, or even a surgical or non-surgical facial enhancement procedure.

Whatever facial or skin rejuvenation treatment you choose, you’ll probably need some downtime to allow your face to absorb the full effects of the procedure. Below we’ll describe some of our most popular procedures and how long before your special occasion you should give yourself to heal fully.

Facials and Microdermabrasion:

Some people make the critical mistake of getting a facial just a day or two before their big event — don’t let it happen to you. Facials can open your pores and make your skin susceptible to irritation, acne, and blotchy red patches. Give yourself two to three days after your facial to get over that initial reactive hump.

Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive procedure that employs tiny crystals to remove superficial layers of dead skin cells. The treatment improves fine lines, texture, discoloration, sun damage, and facial acne. Whether you’re doing it alone or combined with a facial, you’ll also need a few days after microdermabrasion so your face can integrate the work.

Botox and Injectables:

BOTOXBOTOX cosmetic injections are extremely popular with women and men who want smooth, refreshed faces without downtime. BOTOX provides natural-looking results with a well-established record of safety and efficacy. Dr. Edward Gross, a double board-certified facial plastic surgeon, oversees all treatments to ensure predictable, safe, and natural-looking results.

We recommend that you plan your BOTOX injection at least one week before a special event to allow your face and skin enough time to recover from any potential redness, bruising, or inflammation.

JUVÉDERM is one of our most popular fillers, ideal for folds and wrinkles around the nose and mouth, which are often some of the first and most prominent signs of aging. JUVÉDERM is an FDA-approved hyaluronic acid-based filler that adds subtle volume and softness for incredibly youthful and radiant-looking skin. As with BOTOX, you’ll need about a week to allow your face to heal completely.

Platelet-Rich Plasma:

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is a revolutionary therapeutic approach in regenerative medicine that has recently gained traction in the cosmetic and plastic surgery realm. PRP, also known as stem cell therapy, uses your own plasma to support and stimulate natural healing, revitalization, and cellular growth.

PRP provides a wealth of benefits including:

  • Reduction in fine lines and wrinkles
  • Enhancement of skin texture and tone
  • Tightening of skin and improvement in skin laxity
  • Improvement of crepey skin
  • Generation of new collagen fibers

A benefit of PRP treatment is that it comes with little downtime if any. However, we suggest you give yourself two to three days afterward just to be sure.

Plastic Surgery/Rhinoplasty:

Commonly referred to as a nose job, rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure that reshapes and can enhance the function of the nose. Using state-of-the-art computer imaging, rhinoplasty can correct cosmetic concerns, heal post-traumatic injuries, and improve breathing difficulties.

For rhinoplasty and other plastic surgery procedures we offer such as eyelid surgery, facelift, or neck and face liposuction, we recommend that you plan for at least six weeks of recovery time.

Skin Rejuvenation:

One of the most sure-fire ways to correct wrinkles, restore volume, or just freshen up your appearance for your big holiday, wedding or special event is with our personalized skin rejuvenation treatments.

Whether you choose a chemical peel, microneedling, laser skin resurfacing, or dermabrasion, these treatments are a bit more rooted in nature and require additional downtime compared to a specialty facial or platelet-rich plasma treatment. You should give yourself three weeks to recover fully as procedures like chemical peels and microneedling may cause redness, sunburn-like reactions, peeling, and scaling.

Why You Should Trust Your Face to A Facial Plastic SurgeonUltherapy® is an FDA-approved non-invasive ultrasound treatment for sagging skin that counterbalances the effects of gravity. Ultherapy uses the body’s own regenerative response to stimulate new collagen and smoothly and progressively lift the skin of the eyebrows, under the chin, and around the neck including the décolletage.

After your Ultherapy® treatment, we recommend giving yourself a week to fully recover. You’ll notice the initial effects right away, but the ultimate results will take place over two to three months as your body naturally regenerates collagen.
